Two London gyms which closed suddenly in the summer are to reopen under a new brand.
Southside Group announced Thursday that it has negotiated a lease termination with Movati Athletic and is working to re-establish both London locations under a new brand.
“We appreciate the 25-year relationship with the Movati Athletic. . . and wish them the best in their future endeavors,” Southside Group said in a statement.
“We are currently working to hire the previous staff to better serve the London community.”
Both gyms will open in the next few weeks, the company said.
It was not immediately clear who owns the rebranded clubs, located at 755 Wonderland Rd. N., just north of Oxford Street, and in a big-box plaza at 3198 Wonderland Rd. S.
Southside Group did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Movati Athletic was founded in 2014 by Alan Quesnel and David Wu, who opened the first location under the Athletics Club banner in North London. The fitness chain, which changed its name to Movati Athletic in 2014, has 18 clubs across Canada, with more than 100,000 members and nearly 2,000 employees.
