MLB News: MLB World Series: Mattress Mack wins largest legal payout in sports betting history

Jim McIngvalebetter known as “Mattress Mack,” is a Houston furniture magnate who won the largest legal payout in sports betting history Saturday night when the Astros won the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2022 MLB World Series.

McIngvale (71) won $75 million after placing several bets on the Astros to win the World Series.

He bet $10 million distributed through six different sportsbooks throughout the year.

First, McIngvale bet $3 million on the Astros to win the World Series Caesars on 10/1 and $1 million at WynnBet.

In July he bet $2 million at BetMGM on 5/1, $2 million at Bar stool on +533 and $1 million each at Unibet and Betfredalso on 5/1.

Mattress Mack won’t keep the money

McIngvale won’t be pocketing the full profits, however, as he’s giving refunds to customers who spent more than $3,000 at his store throughout the season as part of his “If the Astros win, you win“promotion.

Caesars, the sportsbook that took the biggest hit from McIngvale’s bet, had to pay out $30 millionreleased a statement for Mattress Mack.

“What can we say? We just wrote the biggest check in sports betting history to Matras Mack for $30,000,000,” Ken Fuchsthe chief operating officer of Caesars Digital, said. “Would we do it all over again? You bet.

While Mack may have won this round on the field, we’re proud of how we’ve come together to support first responders and military veterans in Houston, Philly and Atlantic City.”
