Being fit and healthy can have the most positive impact on your life, says actor-entrepreneur Suniel Shetty. The 62-year-old has managed to evolve so beautifully in terms of fitness that people look up to him for inspiration to live better lives. Ahead of International Men’s Day, which falls on November 19, Suniel Shetty has revealed whether or not he has a ‘secret sauce to fitness’!
“Unfortunately there is none,” he wrote in a Linkedin post, which was accompanied by an inspirational video.
The actor is asked a lot about his fitness mantras. He says fitness is a very simple concept that people have complicated with information overload.
“Once we figure out why we need to stay fit, the how part becomes much easier,” asserts Suniel Shetty.
Suniel Shetty reveals what fitness means to him
In the video, he shares his journey with fitness and how it has had the most positive impact on both his personal and professional life.
“To be able to carry out all the responsibilities throughout the day without mental or physical strength. Life without any serious ailments.” That’s what he says fitness means to him.
It also means a healthy state of mind – that feeling of happiness and not exhaustion after a hard day’s work. Fitness gives him the luxury of feeling fresh after a busy day and blesses him with that mental space to spend quality time with his family.
At his age, he says it’s no longer about abs or a good physical body. It’s about being in a big mental space.
Being fit has allowed me to push my limits, says Suniel Shetty
Being healthy and having a structured life allowed him to maximize the opportunities he was given. “After working for hours without numbers, I would still have the emotional and physical bandwidth to take on more work,” adds one of Bollywood’s fittest actors, who started his career in 1992.
What motivates Suniel Shetty to prioritize fitness
“When I was younger, fitness was about having strength, making abs, and looking a certain way and being tough, and that worked for me. It did help turn my acting career around because I got so many roles after my first movie because of my looks,” he shares.
But now fitness for him is more about preserving and saving himself to live a longer and healthier life. it’s more about feeling good and delivering more in those 6-8 hours.
Importance of good health and staying fit
Fitness, he says, is non-negotiable. It’s also about looking after each other’s well-being.
“We owe fitness to ourselves. We owe it to our family as we all stood up for each other during the difficult times of Covid-19,” says Shetty.
As per Shetty, when we are fit, we see things differently. He encourages all men and women to be that flicker of light that people need these days to be in that spiritual or physical space.
